The fun side
I love all the standard things that make the world go around: coffee, books, tacos, naps, and Harry Potter. There is a special place in my crazy little heart for all things zombie related, and I have zero restraint when it comes buying T-shirts with funny sayings on them and boots. There is a serious side under all my goofy snark, but when that side shows up, I'm usually talking about grammar.
When I'm not editing, I'm wearing my mom and wife hats and trying to get out of doing laundry. Who knew how hard it would be to talk my husband into buying new socks instead of folding them?
Do people really care about my love for zombies or hate for folding socks? Maybe. If you're really looking for more work-related stuff, here you go . . .

let's get down to business
While formal training is not always something a copy editor has, I earned my certification in Professional Sequence of Editing through UC Berkeley and graduated top of my program year. For the last ten years, I have been working closely with authors to help the put their best literary foot forward.
My portfolio is heavily weighted with romance and YA, but I have a deep appreciation for urban fantasy and science fiction as well. The in-house style guide I use is The Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition, which is the most widely used style guide for fiction editors, and I work with both US English and UK English spelling and use.
I pride myself on my adherence to the rules, but I also know when and how a rule should be broken. An author's style is extremely important to me, and I will always show the utmost respect when it comes to stylistic choices.

"Ashley was amazing to work with! Not only does she know her craft, but I felt reassured she was putting all of her focus and attention to my manuscript. I'll be using her again and will be recommending her to other authors too."
